Kalpana Mandal

Kalpana Mandal is an affiliate researcher at Terasaki Institute. By training, she is a physicist, and her research is focused on understanding the physics behind living matter. She received her Ph.D. from Grenoble University where she studied the role of ECM geometry in cellular force orientation and intracellular organization. Following her Ph.D., she worked at the Institute Curie Paris and the University of Pennsylvania, where she studied how mechanical and biochemical properties of cellular microenvironment influence intracellular mechanics as well as cellular signaling. Her current research at Terasaki Institute is focused on developing an organ-on-chip platform to recapitulate tumor microenvironment to improve drug delivery.
