Saber Amin Yavari, Visiting Associate Professor

Dr. Saber Amin Yavari is an Associate Professor at the Department of Orthopedics, University Medical Center Utrecht, the Netherlands. He received his Ph.D. degree in Biomechanical Engineering from Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands in 2014. From an early stage of his research, he has been focused on Biomaterials Science and Engineering and their applications in Regenerative Medicine. He is primarily interested in different surface bio-functionalization strategies to achieve optimal implant fixation, which offers multiple functionalities, especially for bone regeneration and infection prevention. His approach combines different regenerative medicine disciplines using an integrated translational approach, combining additive manufacturing, surface engineering, and controlled drug delivery through micro/nanoencapsulation to treat bone and joint problems. His ultimate passion is to transfer the knowledge gained in the lab to the patient in order to make a difference in their lives. He has authored more than 100 journal papers and conference publications/abstracts, 2 patents/disclosures, has an H-index of 33 and more than 4,500 citations.
