Surjendu Maity, Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr. Surjendu Maity joined as a postdoctoral researcher at Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation, Los Angeles, California, USA, under Dr. Ali Khademhosseini, Dr. Mehmet Dokmeci, and Dr. Vadim Jucaud. His primary research is focused on organ-on-a-chip, biosensors, and nanofibers. Before joining Terasaki Institute, he earned his Ph.D. in nanotechnology and Master’s degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, Assam, India. He developed several microfluidic devices such as early detection of Diabetic Retinopathy, self-organized nanoporous membranes inside/outside the microchannel, and continuous synthesis for polymeric nanoparticles encapsulated with the anticancer drug to observe the death kinetics of metastatic cancer cells inside the microchannel for personalized medicine. He also developed several numerical simulations using COMSOL Multiphysics to support the experimental works with microfluidics. He received his Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Heritage Institute of Technology Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
