Dr. Solmaz Karamikamkar

Dr. Solmaz Karamikamkar received her B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering and first M.Sc. degree in Polymer Engineering from Amirkabir University (Polytechnique), Tehran, Iran. She also received her second M.Sc. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada where she constructed uniform cancerous spheroids using microfluidics technology. She received her Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto, where she employed modified sol-gel chemistry to fabricate a novel class of carbonous silica-based aerogels with tailored porous networks and high specific surface area. Dr. Karamikamkar is a Polymer Scientist at Husky Injection Molding Systems. Previously, she also introduced an innovative processing concept, combining physical chemistry science with advanced additive manufacturing techniques to develop a new class of porous composite materials, aerogel fibres. Dr. Karamikamkar is an affiliate Scientist at the Khademhosseini lab at Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation (TIBI).
